Coinbase Takes Step Towards Going Public

The U.S-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase made an announcement on it official blog yesterday that it has begun the registration process necessary for it to go public.

According to the announcement, Coinbase is awaiting the outcome of the review of the Form S-1, which it has submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“we have confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”). The Form S-1 is expected to become effective after the SEC completes its review process, subject to market and other conditions,” the statement noted.

American rapper Megan Thee Stallion in partnership with Cash App is doing a $1 million worth Bitcoin give-away for fans on Twitter.

The rapper took to her Twitter page on Thursday to announce the bitcoin freebie, urging her fans to drop their cashapp using the #BITCOINMEG hashtag to be considered winner.

FBI Says Virtual Currency Team Lacks Funding

An audit conducted by the U.S Department of Justice of the Inspector General to assess the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) implementation of its dark web strategy has revealed that the Virtual Currency Initiative of the department lacks proper funding.

The report stated that the lack of funding has led to inefficient training of the Virtual Currency Team, outreach and cryptocurrency tracing, which has resulted in poor strategy in dealing with cryptocurrency threat in the future.

Ethereum 2.0 Staking Contract Deposit Exceeds $1 Billion

The Ethereum 2.0 staking contract deposit now worth more than $1 billion since it went live on Dec. 1.

According to data from Etherscan, approximately $1,005,984,292.66 worth of ether now sits in the contract’s deposit.

Ethereum has traded at $676.20 on Thursday, according to data from Coin Desk.
