Serbia Passes “Digital Asset Law” That Legalizes Trading and Issuance of Digital Assets
The Serbian government has passed a new law that legalizes the trading and issuance of digital assets and other related services in the country.
According to the “Digital Asset Law” which was published on Tuesday, digital asserts service providers will have to obtain permission from the supervisory authority before commencing operations in Serbia.
Coinbase Dragged to Court Over XRP Trading
A lawsuit has been filed against crypto trading firm Coinbase by one Thomas C. Sandoval who alleged that the firm deliberately sold XRP as an unregistered security and profited from it.
The lawsuit alleges that Coinbase violated California’s unfair competition law by making profits off the sales of XRP even with the knowledge that the crypto is a security.
Binance U.S Confirms January as Date to Delist XRP
Crypto exchange company Binance U.S has slated January 13, 2021, as the date, it will stop the trading and deposits of Ripple’s XRP on its platform.
The exchange company released a statement on Wednesday stating that users will no longer be able to make deposits and withdrawals effective from 10 am on January 13, while those who want to withdraw their XRP must have a TAG/Memo that “allows Binance US to identify a deposit and credit the appropriate account.”
Xapo to Stop Services to US Customers on March 1
Hong Kong-based company that provides bitcoin wallets in an email obtained by Coin Desk yesterday said it will be shutting down its operations in the United States from March 1, 2020, hence all U.S customers should transfer their funds from Xapo’s account to external bitcoin accounts.
According to the mail, Xapo will stop servicing its US customers “Due to a change in our global business strategy.”
