NexTech AR Plans to Invest $2million in BTC and Beef Up Portfolio Next Year

Canadian web-based augmented reality company NexTech AR has announced plans to purchase bitcoin worth $2million and intends to expand its bitcoin holding in 2021.

Speaking about the investment, NexTech CEO, Evan Gappelberg said: “This initial investment reflects our belief that Bitcoin is a long-term store of value and an attractive investment asset with more long-term appreciation potential than holding cash.”

“We think that as part of the digital transformation a paradigm shift to digital gold is underway and as Bitcoin is seen more and more as a store of value, just like gold, it will catch up to gold,” he added.

Payments Processor Simplex Becomes Latest Visa Principal Member

Israel-based payments processor Simplex announced it has successfully become a principal member of the global payment giant Visa in Europe.

Simplex which is now the latest principal member of Visa after Wirex will now be able to issue Visa cards to its customers.

NFL Player Russell Okung Receives Salary in Bitcoin

The US National Football League player Russell Okung tweeted on Tuesday on his Twitter page that he has been “Paid in Bitcoin”.

Okung quoted a tweet in May 2019 where he demanded to be paid in bitcoin. “Pay me in Bitcoin.” he tweeted.

According to a report on Coin Desk, Okung $13 million annual salary is divided 50-50, with half been paid in fiat currency while the second half is converted to BTC using payment platform Strike.

Former Facebook Director of Investor Relations Joins Coinbase

Former Director, Investor Relations at Facebook Anil Gupta announced on Monday on his LinkedIn page that he will be joining crypto trading company Coinbase to “lead their Investor Relations efforts.”

“Today is my last day at Facebook. The past 8+ years (that’s 33 earnings calls!) have been nothing short of spectacular. I have learned, grown, and accomplished more than I could have ever imagined. As for what’s next, I’ll be joining Coinbase to build and lead their Investor Relations efforts.” he wrote.

Recently, Coinbase has been beefing up its team and board members with experts in the preparation of its Initial public offering (IPO).
