Social media powerhouse Twitter has suspended the accounts of popular cryptocurrency influencers in the early hours of Wednesday.

Bitcoin podcaster Peter McCormack posted the list of some of the suspended accounts he noticed.

Some of the accounts he mentioned are that of Willy Woo, PlanB, TheCryptoDog, MMCrypto, TheMoon, Koroush AK, Wsbchairman and WSBChairman. It is not sure if there still others.

These accounts have a huge following and fans running into hundreds of thousands. This is because they share crypto-industry updates and investing tips. Plan B, for example, has over 300 thousand followers.

As of the time of writing this, the Twitter accounts of Willy Woo and Plan B are reactivated, and their followers restored.

Twitter has not given a specific reason for the suspension that looks like a targeted attack on crypto influencers.

The current price of bitcoin is $55,057.94, climbing by 1.61% in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin’s current market cap of $1.03T and market volume of $55.27B. In the last 24 hours, bitcoin has dropped to $53,101.24 and experienced a 24 hours high of $55,812.33.  Currently, 18,649,925 bitcoins are in circulation.

However, a mail sent to Willy Woo by Twitter explaining why his account was suspended stated that it was flagged as spam by Twitter’s system by mistake.

“We have systems that find and remove multiple automated spam accounts in bulk, and yours was flagged as spam by mistake,” the mail read.

Whether this same reason is why the other accounts were suspended is still unknown.

Many of their fans are in shock by the action. Some wonder why Twitter that is owned by Bitcoin believer Jack Dorsey would suspend the accounts of crypto experts.
