The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance has become the official sponsor of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Africa’s most prestigious football competition.

According to the General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football, Veron Mosengo-Omba, the partnership will allow Binance to gain the mind share of the African community through football.

“I am delighted to welcome Binance as an official sponsor of the AFCON tournament this year. Through this partnership with CAF, Binance will connect further with its users and the African community through football,” he said.

Mosengo-Omba added that “CAF is ready to embrace blockchain-based technology and its impact on the future of African football development.”

The co-founder and CMO of Binance Yi He believes that the partnership can facilitate the adoption and the use of crypto and blockchain technology in Africa.
