Global sportswear brand Puma has registered Puma.eth as a domain name with the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and updated its Twitter handle with the same name.

Puma’s purchase of a decentralized URL further shows its interest in non-fungible tokens, NFTs, and the metaverse.

Apart from being a name service built on Ethereum’s smart contracts that links information to a name and offers secured and decentralized space, it is also an NFT.

According to crypto information site decrypt, “. eth domain names are actually NFTs. If you want to transfer a registered .eth name to a different person, you would send it just like any other non-fungible token.”

Puma.eth is, therefore, the latest NFT addition to Puma’s NFT collections, containing 17 NFTs including Lazy Lions NFT, a Cool Cats NFT, and a Kuddle Koala.

The German sportswear brand has now joined other global brands that have registered a domain name with the ENS, including Budweiser’s Beer.eth, which was purchased for 30 ETH last year, and White Castle, a fast-food company, which registered whitecastleofficial.eth as it’s Ethereum domain name.

The Ethereum Name Service now has a total of 724,096 ENS at press time, with Puma’s ENS name sitting at the 13th spot of the. eth Leaderboard with the most followed account on Twitter. Paris Hilton’s parishilton.eth is the first while NBA’s player Shaquille O’Neal’s shaq.eth ranks second.
